Image to Text (OCR)
Extract text from images, screenshots, and scanned documents using on-device OCR. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server.
About Image to Text (OCR)
Image to Text is a free OCR online tool that reads the words inside a photo, screenshot, or scanned document and turns them into editable, searchable text. Instead of retyping a quote from a picture or a paragraph from a scanned form, upload the image and let optical character recognition do the work in seconds.
Everything runs locally in your browser through WebAssembly, so this works as a photo to text converter with no upload step. Your image is never sent to a server, which makes it safe to use on personal photos, private notes, or confidential documents.
How to Extract Text from an Image
- Upload your image. Drop a photo, screenshot, or scan into the upload area or browse for it. Your file stays on your device.
- Choose the recognition language. Select the language that matches the text in your image for the most accurate results.
- Click Extract Text. The tool downloads a small language model on first use, then recognizes every word in your image.
- Copy or download the result. Use the Copy button to place the text on your clipboard, or download it as a plain .txt file.
